Cincinnati Children’s Hospital welcomes the Japan Society of Fertility Preservation!

The Oncofertility Consortium is excited to share the below blog post written by Ashley Hayes and Olivia Frias from Cincinnati Children's Hospital to outling their growing relationship with the  Japan Society for Fertility Preservation.

The Comprehensive Fertility Care and Preservation Program (CFCPP) at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital was honored to host guest observers from the Japan Society of Fertility Preservation (JSFP) on January 8th, 2018. Our teams met through the annual Oncofertility Conference and have remained in contact ever since our first meeting.

We planned a robust three day itinerary that was tailor-made for our guests. Our guests were able to meet with many members of our comprehensive multidisciplinary team; Oncology, Urology, Gynecology, Research, Bioethics, Psychology, Pathology, Child Life, and Quality Improvement were all involved in this collaborative experience.

Our guests had specific learning objectives for their visit, as a way to improve their Fertility program in Japan, specifically with an emphasis on pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients. However, this visit quickly went from being just a learning experience for our guests to an educational experience for our own team at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. We gained just as much knowledge, and the visit became a true collaboration where both teams were able to share our insight into Fertility Preservation.

It was a wonderful experience!
