Oncofertility in China

Congratulations to The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University that becomes the first Chinese global partner of Oncofertility Consortium.

On October 21-22, 2017, Dr. Qionghua Chen, the chief director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in The First Affiliated Hospital in Xiamen University, Fujian, China, and her colleagues held the first Oncofertility meeting in China. During the conferences, invited speakers and attendees discussed how to preserve young gynecological cancer patients’ fertility including ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancer.  Dr. Shuo Xiao, the assistant professor in University of South Carolina, was representing the Oncofertility Consortium to attend the conference and to present the advances and current challenges of Oncofertility as well as the applications of new bio-technologies such as 3D in vitro follicle growth and organ-on-a-chip in the research of oncofertility. Since the June of 2017, Dr. Qionghua Chen also collaborates with Dr. Shuo Xiao to initiate the ovarian tissue cryopreservation program that help young cancer patients preserve their fertility for future pregnancy.
