Welcome to the Chinese Fertility Preservation Society, Newest Member of OPEN

On August 18th and 19th, Dr. Shuo Xiao, an Assistant Professor from University of South Carolina and also the current member of Oncofertility Consortium, was invited to give a talk at the Chinese Fertility Preservation Society (CFPS) 2nd Annual Meeting in Shanghai, China. Dr. Xiao introduced the framework and clinical and research advances of the Oncofertility Consortium and also talked about his research on how to use the newly developed bioengineering technologies to establish the female reproductive organ-on-a-chip.

The CFPS was founded in 2017 and aims to promote fertility preservation research and clinical practice, as well as raise public awareness of fertility preservation and oncofertility in China. Dr. Wen Li, the founder and current president of CFPS who is also the professor and director of Reproductive Medicine Center in Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, said that there are now no specific clinical regulations or guidelines regarding preserving cancer patients’ fertility in China, however, China has the largest cancer population in the world and many young cancer patients will probably receive treatments without discussing possible fertility damage and options of fertility preservation. Dr. Wen Li is very excited about the engagement with Oncofertility Consortium through OPEN and looks forward to future interactions and collaborations.
